ravel information in brief
Travel time
In Sri Lanka the temperatures are between 20 ° C and 30 ° C all year round and the sun shines most of the time. Since Sri Lanka is located in the tropics, it is rather humid in the southwest and quite dry and warm in the east and north of the country. The sea invites you to swim, as the water temperatures are around 27 ° C throughout the year. The monsoons come in October and November, making it bloom beautifully everywhere from December to March.
Currency / money
To enter the country, you need a passport that is valid for at least six months after your return journey. Children also need their own passport with a photo. German citizens must present a visa when entering Sri Lanka. A visitor visa can be applied for online and costs 35 US dollars for stays of up to 30 days. For an exhibition at the airport, this fee increases to 40 US dollars and an increased waiting time must be expected.
Vaccinations
No special vaccinations are required when entering from Germany. When entering from yellow fever endemic areas, a yellow fever vaccination is compulsory. The Foreign Office recommends the standard vaccinations and a vaccination against hepatitis A. If you are staying for a long time, you should also consider vaccination against hepatitis B, typhoid, rabies and Japanese encephalitis. Please contact your doctor or a tropical medicine specialist in this regard.
Visa / entry
The official national currency is the Sri Lankan rupee, which is divided into 100 (Sri Lanka-) cents. You do not receive Sri Lankan rupees abroad, so travelers have to change the money themselves on site. Euros and US dollars can be exchanged relatively easily in banks, hotels and travel agencies. In addition, money can be withdrawn with a credit card and, in some cases, also paid for with it.
Nature travel to Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka is currently one of the most popular travel destinations in Asia. There are, however, few nature trips to Sri Lanka, as the island is viewed more as a destination for bathing and cultural holidays. We have set ourselves the goal of visiting as many of the impressive national parks in Sri Lanka as possible with you during your Sri Lanka trip.
We offer individual and group tours to Sri Lanka. We deliberately keep our groups very small to ensure a better travel experience. When we see a rare animal, everyone should have the opportunity to see it extensively. This is very important to us! On our Sri Lanka trips, we attach great importance to excellent and knowledgeable tour guides so that you can learn as much as possible about the country and the incredible nature of Sri Lanka. You will of course also find the usual standard with our on-site service, which is available to you seven days a week for 24 hours.
Many of our Sri Lanka trips naturally also include the top tourist destinations such as Sigiriya or the Yala National Park; At the same time, we will work out individual, unusual travel routes for you, which will take you to Gal Oya in the Sinharaja National Park, for example. Or we combine your Sri Lanka nature trip with a trip through India, the Maldives or elsewhere. Our Sri Lanka trips always aim to support species conservation projects with part of the travel price. We know Sri Lanka personally and are in close contact with our local partners. Offering high quality nature trips through Sri Lanka for you, that is our claim!
